Why we built this

Our founder bought a former police-package 2009 Dodge Charger and put a ton of work into it: paint, wheels, suspension, and a built-up rebuilt lower end. He had to sell it on eBay in December 2020 for $12,500 when he moved to another state. He regrets selling it and wants to buy it back. That is why Car Hound built VIN Watch. We ran his VIN (2B3KA43T8****7461) through the system.

  1. The history matched his sale exactly: the eBay listings in Dec 2020 at 63,000 miles, topping out at $12,500.
  2. Then it showed what happened next. In Mayโ€“July 2024 the Charger appeared on four salvage and export auction sites, last seen in Tucker, GA.
  3. It isn't for sale anywhere we can see today. We're watching it daily. If it comes back, he'll be the first to know.

That's VIN Watch. The full report is below.

FAQ

Where do you look?

We scan major listing sites, dealer inventory and online auctions daily, using licensed data. Private sales, like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist, may not appear.

Will you definitely find my car?

No one can promise that. Your car may never come back on the market, and not every listing reaches us. If it shows up on a source we cover, you'll hear about it fast.

What's in the history report?

Every past listing we can find for that VIN: dates, sources, prices, mileage, locations, and a flag when it appeared on a salvage or export auction site. It isn't a title or accident report like Carfax.

I don't have my old VIN. Can you help?

Check old insurance cards, titles, registration renewals, loan papers or service receipts. Your insurer or the DMV may also have it on file.

How do I cancel?

Anytime, using the link in your Stripe receipt email. No calls or hoops.
